Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C)

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

Orange Cream Filling

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Zest of 2 medium oranges

  • 1/2 cup orange marmalade or orange preserves

Orange Cream Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 23 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • Optional: thin strips of orange zest for garnish

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture. Mix until soft dough forms.

  • Knead dough on a floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

  • In a medium bowl, mix softened butter, sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest for the filling.

  • Roll dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, then top with orange marmalade.

  • Roll dough tightly from a long edge and pinch seam to seal. Slice into 12 rolls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Cover rolls and let rise 30–40 minutes until slightly puffy.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls 20–25 minutes until golden brown. Remove and cool slightly.

  • Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla to make glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls and garnish with orange zest if desired.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: Shape rolls and refrigerate overnight. Bake in the morning, adding extra time if chilled.

  • Flavor tips: Add 1 tsp orange extract to glaze or sprinkle candied orange peel for extra aroma.

  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to restore softness.

  • Serving: Serve warm with coffee, tea, or a fresh fruit salad for a delightful breakfast or brunch.
