Description

A simple, crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring tender meatballs coated in a glossy sweet chili glaze, perfect for parties and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef or ground chicken

  • 1/2 cup (60 g) plain breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweet chili sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs and milk until softened. Add ground meat, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently.

  • Shape into 1-inch meatballs and place on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 15–18 minutes until cooked through.

  • In a saucepan, combine sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and garlic powder. Simmer over medium heat.

  • Add baked meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5–10 minutes, stirring gently to coat.

  • Serve warm with toothpicks or keep warm in a slow cooker.

Notes

  • Meatballs can be made ahead and reheated in the sauce.

  • Adjust sweetness or spice by modifying the sauce ingredients.
