Description

A comforting and flavorful slider recipe featuring tender shredded chicken coated in a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce, perfect for gatherings or easy family meals.

Ingredients

  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs: 2 lb (900 g)

  • BBQ sauce: 1 ½ cups (360 ml)

  • Smoked paprika: 1 ½ teaspoons

  • Garlic powder: 1 teaspoon

  • Onion powder: 1 teaspoon

  • Brown sugar: 2 tablespoons

  • Apple cider vinegar: 1 tablespoon

  • Slider buns or small brioche rolls: 12 buns

  • Butter, melted: 3 tablespoons

  • Optional toppings:

    • Coleslaw: 1 ½ cups (about 150 g)

    • Sliced pickles: ½ cup (about 60 g)

    • Thinly sliced red onion: ¼ cup (about 40 g)

Instructions

  • Place chicken in a pot, cover with water, and simmer for 18–22 minutes until fully cooked.

  • Remove chicken, rest briefly, then shred with two forks.

  • In a saucepan, combine BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Simmer gently.

  • Add shredded chicken to the sauce and cook for 10–15 minutes until thick and well coated.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice buns, brush with butter, and toast for 5–7 minutes.

  • Spoon BBQ chicken onto buns, add desired toppings, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Toasting the buns helps prevent sogginess.

  • The BBQ chicken can be made ahead and reheated gently.

  • Adjust sweetness or smokiness by modifying sugar or smoked paprika to taste.
