Description

A flavorful roasted chicken dish coated in a glossy orange glaze that perfectly balances sweet and savory notes, ideal for an elegant dinner at home.


Ingredients

1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) chicken thighs or drumsticks, skin-on

2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)

1 teaspoon salt (5 g)

½ teaspoon black pepper (2 g)

1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 g)

1 teaspoon paprika (5 g)

240 ml (1 cup) fresh orange juice

Zest of 2 oranges

80 ml (⅓ cup) honey

60 ml (¼ cup) soy sauce

2 tablespoons rice vinegar (30 ml)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon grated ginger (15 g)

1 tablespoon cornstarch (8 g)

2 tablespoons water (30 ml)


Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and prepare the chicken by patting it dry.

Season the chicken with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Roast for 35–40 minutes until golden and cooked through.

Prepare the sauce by simmering orange juice, zest, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger.

Add cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened.

Brush the chicken with sauce and return to oven for 10–15 minutes.

Garnish and serve warm.

Notes

Fresh orange juice is highly recommended for best flavor

Adjust sweetness or tanginess based on taste

Can be made slightly spicy with chili flakes

Best served immediately for optimal texture
