Description

This Pumpkin Sage Cheese Spread captures all the warmth and coziness of fall in one creamy, flavorful bite. Blending smooth cream cheese, earthy sage, and subtly sweet pumpkin puree, it’s the perfect appetizer for Thanksgiving gatherings, family dinners, or casual get-togethers. Whether spread on crackers, crostini, or crisp veggie sticks, this easy-to-make recipe offers a comforting yet sophisticated flavor that’s sure to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ½ cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh sage (or 1 teaspoon dried sage)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Crackers, crostini, or fresh vegetable sticks for serving

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and pumpkin puree. Blend with a spatula or hand mixer until smooth and creamy.

  • Add shredded cheddar cheese, chopped sage, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir well until evenly combined.

  • If the mixture feels too thick, drizzle in a tablespoon of olive oil to achieve a smooth, spreadable texture. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.

  • Transfer the mixture to a serving bowl or ramekin, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Chilling helps the flavors meld and enhances the texture.

  • When ready to serve, remove from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes to soften slightly.

  • Serve the spread with crackers, crostini, or fresh veggies. For extra flair, drizzle with olive oil and garnish with chopped sage or a sprinkle of smoked paprika.

Notes

Use room-temperature cream cheese for a smoother texture. Fresh sage offers the best flavor, but dried sage works in a pinch. If making ahead, store the spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days. Before serving, let it soften at room temperature and stir gently to refresh the texture. Serve with your favorite crackers, pita chips, or sliced veggies for an easy and elegant fall appetizer.
