Description

These Mini Caprese Skewers with Balsamic Glaze are a refreshing and elegant appetizer perfect for any gathering. Featuring juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant basil drizzled with a tangy balsamic glaze, they bring all the bright flavors of Italy into a simple, bite-sized presentation. Ideal for holidays, picnics, or light summer meals, these skewers are quick to prepare, beautiful to serve, and always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes, halved if large

  • 1 container mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine), drained

  • Fresh basil leaves, small or torn if large

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling (store-bought or homemade)

  • Toothpicks or small skewers for assembling

Instructions

  • Rinse and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

  • Thread one tomato half, one basil leaf, and one mozzarella ball onto each toothpick or skewer. Continue assembling until all ingredients are used.

  • Arrange the skewers neatly on a platter. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

  • Just before serving, drizzle with balsamic glaze to add flavor and shine.

  • Serve immediately at room temperature or slightly chilled for the freshest taste.

Notes

  • Use ripe, sweet cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella for the best flavor.

  • To make homemade balsamic glaze, simmer ½ cup balsamic vinegar until reduced by half, then cool before using.

  • You can prepare the skewers several hours in advance and refrigerate them; drizzle the glaze right before serving.

  • Arrange them beautifully on a platter or in small glasses for a more elegant presentation.
