Ingredients
-
1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes, halved if large
-
1 container mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine), drained
-
Fresh basil leaves, small or torn if large
-
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
-
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
-
Balsamic glaze, for drizzling (store-bought or homemade)
-
Toothpicks or small skewers for assembling
Instructions
-
Rinse and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry to remove excess moisture.
-
Thread one tomato half, one basil leaf, and one mozzarella ball onto each toothpick or skewer. Continue assembling until all ingredients are used.
-
Arrange the skewers neatly on a platter. Drizzle lightly with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
-
Just before serving, drizzle with balsamic glaze to add flavor and shine.
-
Serve immediately at room temperature or slightly chilled for the freshest taste.
Notes
-
Use ripe, sweet cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzarella for the best flavor.
-
To make homemade balsamic glaze, simmer ½ cup balsamic vinegar until reduced by half, then cool before using.
-
You can prepare the skewers several hours in advance and refrigerate them; drizzle the glaze right before serving.
-
Arrange them beautifully on a platter or in small glasses for a more elegant presentation.
