Ingredients

1.8 kg (4 lb) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken breasts

480 ml (2 cups) BBQ sauce

60 ml (1/4 cup) freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire-style sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional)
Instructions

Whisk all sauce ingredients together in a bowl.

Place chicken in the crockpot.

Pour sauce over chicken and coat evenly.

Cook on low for 6–7 hours or high for 3–4 hours.

Shred chicken and return it to the sauce.

Add cornstarch slurry if desired and cook 15–20 minutes more.
