Description

These Greek chicken burgers are juicy, flavorful, and packed with Mediterranean-inspired ingredients like feta, garlic, and oregano. Perfect for a family dinner, backyard barbecue, or a weekend lunch, they bring fresh flavors and simple preparation together for a meal everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds ground chicken (preferably dark meat for extra juiciness)

  • 1 small onion, finely grated

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese

  • ¼ cup panko breadcrumbs

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 4 burger buns, lightly toasted

  • Tzatziki sauce, for serving

  • Sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions, for topping

  • Optional: lettuce or arugula for added crunch

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, grated onion, minced garlic, crumbled feta, panko breadcrumbs, parsley, oregano, salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Mix gently until ingredients are evenly distributed.

  • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a thick burger patty. Press the center slightly to prevent puffing during cooking.

  • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat and add olive oil. Cook the patties 5–6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the exterior is golden brown.

  • While the patties cook, slice tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions. Prepare lettuce or arugula if desired.

  • Lightly toast the burger buns on a skillet or in the oven.

  • Assemble the burgers: spread tzatziki on the bottom bun, place the cooked patty on top, add vegetables and greens, then finish with tzatziki and the top bun. Serve immediately.

  • Optional: serve with Greek salad, roasted vegetables, or sweet potato fries for a complete meal.

Notes

  • For juicier burgers, let the patties rest in the fridge for 30 minutes before cooking.

  • Tzatziki can be made ahead and stored for up to 3 days.

  • Customize toppings with roasted red peppers, olives, or avocado slices for extra flavor.
