Description

A comforting Moroccan-inspired fish dish simmered in a rich, spicy tomato sauce infused with warm spices and fresh herbs.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 900 g white fish fillets

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika

  • ½ tsp chili flakes

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • Juice of 1 lemon (2 tbsp)

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (150 g)

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp sweet paprika

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp ground coriander

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

  • 400 g crushed tomatoes

  • 120 ml water

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice


Instructions

  • Mix marinade ingredients and coat fish. Rest 20–30 minutes.

  • Cook onion in olive oil until soft.

  • Add garlic and spices; stir until fragrant.

  • Add tomatoes, water, tomato paste, salt, and pepper. Simmer 10–15 minutes.

  • Add fish, cover, and simmer 10–12 minutes.

  • Finish with lemon juice and cilantro.

Notes

Adjust spice levels to taste. Serve with bread, rice, or couscous for a complete meal.
