Description
A quick and flavorful shrimp stir-fry with tender broccoli coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce. Perfect for busy weeknight dinners and ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
2 tablespoons sliced green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
In a small bowl whisk together honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and sesame oil. In another bowl mix cornstarch with water and set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp. Remove from pan.
Add remaining olive oil and sesame oil to the skillet. Add garlic and ginger and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add shrimp, salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes per side until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
Pour in the honey garlic sauce and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens.
Return broccoli to the skillet and toss everything together until evenly coated.
Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions before serving.
Notes
Do not overcook the shrimp as they become firm and rubbery when cooked too long.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, add an additional teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with water.
This dish pairs well with steamed jasmine rice, noodles, or quinoa.
Fresh broccoli works best, but frozen broccoli can be used if thawed and drained first.
