Ingredients

4 pounds ground beef (80/20)

2 cups whole milk

2 cups plain breadcrumbs

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons salt

1 ½ teaspoons black pepper

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

3 large onions, thinly sliced

4 cups beef broth

2 cups whole milk

½ cup all-purpose flour

4 tablespoons butter

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, mix ground beef, milk, breadcrumbs, eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until just combined.

Shape mixture into evenly sized patties.

Brown patties in a skillet over medium heat for 2–3 minutes per side. Transfer to a large baking dish.

In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions until soft and lightly golden.

Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in beef broth and milk, stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour gravy over hamburger steaks. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes.

Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
