A rich yet refreshing pasta dish featuring tender shrimp, garlic butter, and bright lemon flavors—perfect for a special dinner.
Ingredients
250 g (8 oz) spaghetti or linguine
400 g (14 oz) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
4 tablespoons (60 g) unsalted butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
Juice of 1 large lemon (45 ml)
Zest of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¼ cup (15 g) fresh parsley, chopped
2 tablespoons (10 g) fresh basil, chopped
½ cup (120 ml) pasta cooking water
50 g (½ cup) grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Bring salted water to a boil and cook pasta until al dente. Reserve ½ cup pasta water.
Season shrimp with salt and pepper.
Heat oil and butter in a skillet and cook shrimp 1–2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
Add remaining butter and garlic to the skillet; cook until fragrant.
Stir in lemon juice, zest, and red pepper flakes.
Add cooked pasta and toss with sauce.
Gradually add pasta water to loosen the sauce.
Return shrimp to the pan and add herbs. Toss gently.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh shrimp for best results
Adjust lemon juice to taste
Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender
