A light and elegant summer appetizer featuring creamy burrata, fragrant basil, and bright lemon, perfect for warm days and effortless entertaining.


Ingredients

  • Burrata cheese – 2 large balls (about 200 g each)

  • Fresh basil leaves – 1 packed cup (about 30 g), torn

  • Lemon – 1 large (zest finely grated, 1 tablespoon juice)

  • Extra virgin olive oil – 3 tablespoons

  • Sea salt – 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste

  • Freshly ground black pepper – 1/4 teaspoon

  • Honey – 1 teaspoon (optional)

  • Crushed red pepper flakes – 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

  • Artisan bread – 1 loaf (about 400 g), sliced and toasted


Instructions

  • Remove the burrata from the refrigerator 15 minutes before serving.

  • Place the burrata on a serving platter and gently tear it open.

  • Scatter the torn basil leaves over the burrata.

  • Sprinkle lemon zest evenly and drizzle with lemon juice.

  • Drizzle olive oil over the top and season with salt and pepper.

  • Add honey and red pepper flakes if using.

  • Serve immediately with toasted bread.
