Description

A sweet and savory one-skillet pasta dish featuring tender sausage, sticky honey garlic sauce, and melted cheese for a quick and comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

12 ounces (340 g) penne pasta
1 pound (450 g) beef or chicken sausage, sliced
2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup (120 ml) honey
⅓ cup (80 ml) low-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup (240 ml) chicken broth
1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

Cook 12 ounces (340 g) penne pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve ½ cup (120 ml) pasta water, then drain.

Heat 2 tablespoons (30 ml) olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 1 pound (450 g) sliced sausage and cook until browned. Remove and set aside.

In the same skillet, sauté 4 cloves minced garlic for 30–60 seconds.

Stir in ½ cup (120 ml) honey, ⅓ cup (80 ml) soy sauce, 1 tablespoon (15 ml) lemon juice, ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, and ½ teaspoon black pepper. Add 1 cup (240 ml) chicken broth and simmer until slightly thickened.

Return sausage to the skillet and add drained pasta. Toss to coat, adding reserved pasta water if needed.

Stir in 1 cup (100 g) mozzarella and ¼ cup (25 g) Parmesan until melted. Garnish with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For less sweetness, reduce honey to ⅓ cup (80 ml) and add extra lemon juice.
Add vegetables such as 1 cup (150 g) broccoli or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days and reheat with a splash of broth or water.
