Description

A slow cooker version of the classic favorite that delivers bold flavor with minimal effort, perfect for hectic evenings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 900 g (2 lb) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cubed

  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) low-sodium soy sauce

  • 80 ml (1/3 cup) hoisin sauce

  • 75 g (1/3 cup) brown sugar

  • 60 ml (1/4 cup) rice vinegar

  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) honey

  • 15 ml (1 tablespoon) sesame oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 10 g (1 tablespoon) fresh ginger, grated

  • 5 ml (1 teaspoon) chili flakes

  • 120 ml (1/2 cup) chicken broth

  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) cornstarch

  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) cold water

  • 4 green onions, sliced

  • 10 g (1 tablespoon) sesame seeds


Instructions

  • Add chicken to the slow cooker.

  • Whisk soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, chili flakes, and chicken broth.

  • Pour sauce over chicken, cover, and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours.

  • Mix cornstarch and water, stir into the crockpot, and cook on high for 15–20 minutes until thickened.

  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Adjust sweetness or heat to taste. Serve over rice with vegetables for a complete meal.
