Description

A comforting, family-friendly casserole made with seasoned ground beef, tender rice, and melted cheese—perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef

  • 1 cup (200 g) long-grain white rice, uncooked

  • 2 cups (480 ml) beef broth

  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk

  • 1 small onion, diced (about 1 cup / 150 g)

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme

  • 1 cup (240 g) shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup (120 g) shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion until soft, then add garlic.

  • Add ground beef, cook until browned, and season.

  • Spread beef mixture in the baking dish and top with uncooked rice.

  • Whisk broth and milk together and pour over the rice.

  • Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.

  • Remove foil, add cheese, and bake uncovered for 10–15 minutes.

  • Rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen before baking. Add vegetables or adjust seasonings to suit your taste.
