Description

Brunch is the perfect time to enjoy a warm, comforting dish with family or friends, and this Easy Broccoli Cheddar Quiche Bake is ideal for any occasion. With its fluffy custard, tender broccoli, and sharp cheddar, it’s a simple yet flavorful recipe that can be made ahead or served fresh from the oven. Inspired by classic Sunday brunch traditions, this quiche brings together wholesome ingredients into a dish that’s as satisfying as it is visually appealing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup half-and-half

  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets, chopped into small pieces

  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter, for sautéing

  • 1 prepared pie crust (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish if not using a crust.

  • Steam or blanch the broccoli florets for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.

  • Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté diced onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, half-and-half, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.

  • Layer broccoli in the bottom of the prepared dish (or in the pie crust if using). Add sautéed onions and garlic over the broccoli. Sprinkle shredded cheddar evenly on top. Pour the egg mixture over all ingredients.

  • Bake for 35-45 minutes until the quiche is set in the center and golden brown on top. A knife inserted should come out clean.

  • Allow to cool 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Cheese variations: Try mozzarella, Gruyère, or fontina for different flavors.

  • Vegetable swaps: Use spinach, kale, asparagus, or other seasonal vegetables.

  • Make-ahead tip: Assemble the night before and refrigerate, then bake in the morning.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat gently before serving.

  • Optional garnish: Fresh parsley, chives, or dill for a pop of color and freshness.
