Description

Imagine a warm summer evening, the grill gently sizzling, and the irresistible aroma of perfectly cooked chicken skewers filling the air. These Bang Bang Chicken Skewers bring restaurant-style flavor to your kitchen with a creamy, sweet, and slightly spicy sauce that everyone will love. Perfect for casual weeknight dinners, family gatherings, or backyard parties, this recipe is simple to prepare yet impressive to serve. Inspired by the bold flavors found in popular Asian-American restaurants, these skewers offer a perfect balance of juicy chicken and tangy, flavorful sauce that will quickly become a favorite in your home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the Bang Bang Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

  • 12 teaspoons sriracha (adjust based on spice preference)

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1 teaspoon lime juice

  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions and sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine chicken pieces with salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and vegetable oil. Toss until chicken is evenly coated.

  • Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning. Thread chicken pieces onto skewers, leaving small gaps for even cooking.

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat or oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if using the oven.

  • Grill chicken skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and slightly charred. If baking, cook for 18–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.

  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth. Adjust spice to taste.

  • Brush Bang Bang sauce generously over cooked skewers. Serve extra sauce on the side if desired.

  • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice, noodles, or a fresh salad.

Notes

Adjust spice level to taste, soak wooden skewers to prevent burning, and use chicken thighs for juicier results. Optional vegetables such as bell peppers or zucchini can be added to skewers for variety.
