This crispy, sweet, and savory tofu is easy to make and perfect for weeknights, offering a delicious balance of texture and flavor.
Ingredients

14 oz (400 g) extra-firm tofu

2 tbsp cornstarch (16 g)

1/2 tsp salt (3 g)

1/4 tsp black pepper (1 g)

2 tbsp neutral oil (30 ml)

3 tbsp honey (63 g)

2 tbsp soy sauce (30 ml)

1 tbsp rice vinegar (15 ml)

3 cloves garlic, minced (9 g)

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 cup water (60 ml)

1 tsp cornstarch (3 g) mixed with 1 tsp water (3 ml)
Instructions

Press tofu for 15–20 minutes, then cut into cubes.

Toss tofu in cornstarch, salt, and pepper.

Pan-fry tofu in oil until golden and crisp.

In the same pan, cook garlic, then add honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, and water.

Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer until thickened.

Add tofu back to the pan and coat with sauce.

Serve warm with rice, noodles, or vegetables.
Notes
Pressing the tofu well is key for crispiness. The sauce can be made ahead and reheated gently as needed.
