Ingredients
-
1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed
-
1 medium onion, chopped
-
15 oz Alfredo sauce
-
15 oz Marinara sauce
-
1 package (9–12 oz) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp Italian seasoning
-
Salt and black pepper, to taste
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
Optional garnish: fresh basil or parsley
Instructions
-
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the tortellini according to package directions until tender. Drain and set aside.
-
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Remove from skillet and set aside.
-
In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion for 3–4 minutes until translucent. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
-
Reduce heat to medium. Stir in Alfredo sauce, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth and heated through.
-
Return the sausage to the skillet, then add the tortellini. Toss gently to coat everything in the sauce.
-
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top. Cover and let the cheese melt for 2–3 minutes.
-
Garnish with basil or parsley and serve hot with garlic bread or a fresh salad.
Notes
-
Fresh tortellini cooks faster, but frozen works just as well.
-
Drain excess sausage fat if needed to avoid a greasy sauce.
-
Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for extra nutrition.
-
For a spicy version, use hot Italian sausage or add red pepper flakes.
-
Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
