Ingredients

Ground beef – 500 g / 1 lb

Onion, diced – 1 medium (150 g / 5 oz)

Carrots, diced – 2 medium (150 g / 5 oz)

Celery, diced – 2 stalks (100 g / 3.5 oz)

Garlic, minced – 3 cloves

Potatoes, peeled and diced – 3 medium (450 g / 1 lb)

Butter – 45 g / 3 tbsp

All-purpose flour – 30 g / ¼ cup

Chicken broth – 1 liter / 4 cups

Milk – 480 ml / 2 cups

Cheddar cheese, shredded – 200 g / 7 oz

Salt – 1 tsp (or to taste)

Black pepper – ½ tsp

Paprika – 1 tsp

Dried parsley – 1 tsp
Instructions

Cook ground beef in a large pot over medium heat until browned. Drain and set aside.

Melt butter in the same pot. Add onion, carrots, and celery; cook until softened.

Stir in garlic and cook briefly.

Add flour and stir for 1–2 minutes.

Gradually add chicken broth, stirring constantly.

Add potatoes, salt, pepper, and paprika. Simmer until potatoes are tender.

Return ground beef to the pot.

Stir in milk and warm gently.

Add shredded cheddar cheese gradually, stirring until smooth.

Finish with dried parsley and adjust seasoning if needed.
Notes
For best results, shred cheese fresh and keep the heat low when adding it to maintain a smooth, creamy texture. Adjust thickness with extra milk or broth as needed.
