Ingredients

1 lb (450 g) ground beef

1 medium yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (14 oz / 400 g) crushed tomatoes

1 can (15 oz / 425 g) kidney beans, drained and rinsed

2 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin
-
1 tsp paprika

1 tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 bag (32 oz / 900 g) frozen tater tots

2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese

¼ cup sliced green onions (optional)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, then stir in garlic.

Add crushed tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 8–10 minutes.

Spread chili evenly in a greased 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish. Sprinkle with half of the cheese.

Arrange frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.

Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven, add remaining cheese, and bake 10 minutes more until bubbly.

Rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish if desired.
