Description

A bold, comforting tray of crispy tortilla chips layered with seasoned beef and melted cheese, perfect for sharing on any occasion.


Ingredients

  • Tortilla chips – 300 g (10 oz)

  • Ground beef – 500 g (1 lb)

  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon

  • Onion – 1 medium, finely diced (150 g)

  • Garlic – 3 cloves, minced

  • Paprika – 1 teaspoon

  • Ground cumin – 1 teaspoon

  • Chili powder – 1 teaspoon

  • Salt – 1 teaspoon

  • Black pepper – ½ teaspoon

  • Tomato paste – 2 tablespoons

  • Water – 60 ml (¼ cup)

  • Cheddar cheese – 200 g (7 oz), grated

  • Mozzarella cheese – 150 g (5 oz), grated


Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook onion until soft, then add garlic.

  • Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

  • Stir in paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, tomato paste, and water. Simmer until thick.

  • Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).

  • Layer half the chips on a lined baking tray. Add half the cheese and half the beef.

  • Repeat layers with remaining chips, cheese, and beef.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.

  • Serve immediately with desired toppings.

Notes

Use sturdy tortilla chips to prevent breakage. Freshly grated cheese melts best. Add fresh toppings after baking to keep chips crisp.
