Ingredients
3 ½ to 4 cups (440–500 grams) all-purpose flour
2 ¼ teaspoons (7 grams) active dry yeast
1 cup (240 ml) warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
¼ cup (60 ml) warm water
¼ cup (56 grams) unsalted butter, melted
2 tablespoons (25 grams) granulated sugar
1 teaspoon (6 grams) salt
1 large egg
For the Garlic Butter:
½ cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, melted
3 cloves garlic, finely minced (about 1 tablespoon)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
Combine warm milk, warm water, and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
Add melted butter, salt, and egg. Gradually mix in flour until a soft dough forms.
Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled.
Divide into 12 equal pieces, shape into balls, and place in a greased 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
Cover and let rise 30–40 minutes until puffy.
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 18–22 minutes until golden brown.
Mix garlic butter ingredients and brush over warm rolls immediately after baking.
Notes
Ensure milk is warm but not hot to properly activate yeast.
Do not over-flour the dough; it should be slightly tacky.
Rolls can be frozen for up to 3 months and reheated before serving.
