Description

A crispy, comforting classic made easier and lighter in the air fryer, perfect for busy weeknights or relaxed family dinners.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound / 450 g)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (60 g)

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon water

  • 1 cup seasoned breadcrumbs (60 g)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (50 g)

  • ¾ cup marinara sauce (180 ml)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (100 g)

  • Olive oil spray


Instructions

  • Slice chicken breasts horizontally into thin cutlets and pat dry. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.

  • Place flour in one bowl. Whisk eggs and water in a second bowl. Mix breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese in a third bowl.

  • Dredge chicken in flour, dip into egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.

  • Preheat air fryer to 380°F (193°C). Spray basket lightly with olive oil.

  • Arrange chicken in a single layer, spray tops lightly, and air fry for 8 minutes.

  • Flip chicken, spray again, and cook for 5–7 more minutes until golden and cooked through.

  • Top each piece with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese.

  • Return to air fryer and cook for 2–3 minutes until cheese is melted.

  • Rest briefly before serving.

Notes

  • Cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the air fryer.

  • Reheat leftovers in the air fryer for best texture.

  • Serve with pasta, salad, or vegetables for a complete meal.
